Extreme Temperament
Is your child or teen sensitive about things that don’t seem to bother other children?
Does your child have bigger or more intense reactions than many other children?
Do they tend to react impulsively — speaking or acting before they think about what the consequences might be?
Is your child or teen “strong-willed,” often inflexible?
Does your child struggle with social skills?
If you answered yes to three or more of the above questions, you may have a child or teen who has an extreme temperament.
If this sounds like your child, do you wish you knew how to guide them to become more:
cooperative
communicative
emotionally mature
socially confident
motivated and self-reliant
considerate
thorough about daily routines, homework, and household chores
skilled in ‘school success strategies’ and academic basics
When a child or teen has a very extreme temperament, they may receive a diagnosis, most often of ADHD, Autism, or BAP (broader autism phenotype). You’ll be pleased to learn that the “Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting” strategies are effective at bringing out the best in children and teens, regardless of whether they have a diagnosis or not.
