✺ Frequently asked questions about course content ✺
-
This course is for you if you’re frustrated because you’re having to repeat and remind, and maybe even yell or threaten, just to get your children (ages 3 to 13) to do the ordinary things that they’re supposed to do every day.
-
You will learn how to guide your children into the habit of cooperating, in other words: doing what you tell them to do, the first time you tell them, with a minimum of protest.
-
Instead of vague advice like “be consistent” or “praise your child more,” Noël shows you exactly what to say, when to say it, and how to say it so that children actually respond positively. The strategies are specific, clear, and easy to put into practice. They’re also designed for the types of real-life challenges that we’re all familiar with.
Parents often say that Noël’s methods are practical and effective - you can do them, and they work. You don’t need to be perfect or endlessly patient. By following her step-by-step guidance, you’ll see more cooperation and confidence from your child, and more calm and connection in your home.
-
Every family is different, but many parents start seeing more cooperation and connection and confidence within the first week or two. The more consistently you practice, the more delighted you’ll be by the improvements.
-
A thousand times yes! In fact, these strategies work best when everyone caring for your child is on the same page.
-
Absolutely. These strategies work, whether your child is easy-going or quite difficult, or in between.
-
Definitely yes. The Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting strategies bring out the best in all children, but it may take a bit longer with some children.
-
If you’re wanting guidance to improve your teenager’s cooperation, this course probably isn’t suitable. That’s because modern teens face complex challenges, and as a result so do their parents. Therefore a more nuanced approach is required.

Many parents have heard some of these ideas before, but they still don’t really feel confident about how to put them into practice.
Noël Janis-Norton’s Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting approach goes much deeper than the usual advice. In this course (and in her books), she teaches these strategies in a step-by-step, practical way that takes the guesswork out of parenting.
-
No. As you watch and re-watch this mini-course, you’ll learn the foundation strategies of ‘Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting’.
At some point you might want to learn about the other parenting techniques that I recommend. Or you may want more examples of how to use the strategies that you’re learning in the mini-course. If so, you can learn more by accessing the free resources on our website: blog articles and guest podcast episodes that explain numerous aspects of ‘Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting’.
You can also purchase and read or listen to the books in my “Calmer, Easier, Happier” series (available on Amazon), or you can listen to my audiobooks (available on our website).
I’ve written all these resources to give parents as much guidance and support as possible, along with lots of case studies and examples.

This mini-course focuses on guiding children to become more cooperative, in other words: doing what they’re told the first time they’re told, with a minimum of protest.
In addition to cooperation issues, some children also have more complex or more serious problems. These are often children who have received a neuro-diverse diagnosis, such as Oppositional Defiance Disorder or Autism. The “Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting” strategies that you’ll learn in this mini-course will be helpful for these children, but that’s not likely to be enough. Parents will probably also need more specialized advice and support than this mini-course provides.
You’re likely to find our audiobook, “Bringing Out the Best in Children and Teens with Special Needs”, very useful. In addition, Noel provides personalized advice and support in Option Two parent coaching (see the home page of our website: www.calmerparenting.org).

The parent who’s using the new techniques will experience more cooperation and more connection. The parent who’s not using the new techniques probably won’t. So of course you want your partner to be on board - but you need to be careful how you go about it.
At first, your partner may seem uninterested; they may even be defensive or suspicious. It’s important that you don’t try to persuade them to use these new techniques. That’s liable to backfire and make them feel criticized.
Instead, focus on what you’re learning to do differently. As you put the new techniques you’re learning into practice, your partner will notice that you’re achieving more cooperation and connection, and that you’re feeling calmer and more positive as a result. Share what you’re learning with your partner, without suggesting that they follow your lead. It’s likely that your partner will want to start using these strategies as well – but it probably won’t happen as quickly as you’d like.

Success Stories from our mini-course:
“Maximizing Cooperation, Connection, and Confidence”
-
“The ‘Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting’ mini-course was exactly what our family needed. We were almost at our wits’ end, with daily tantrums. The strategies were mostly easy to apply in real life. I say mostly because it wasn’t always easy for my wife and me to agree. I noticed positive changes in my son’s behavior within the first couple of days. And week by week, things got better and better. Now I feel much more confident when I’m dealing with his extreme temperament. I’m so grateful for the skills this program taught us.”
-
“Like every mom, I’m always busy, always dealing with something urgent. So I really appreciate the flexibility of Noel’s mini-course. I can start and stop each episode whenever I want. The sessions are fun, which was a surprise, and Noel makes everything really clear. There’s some theory, but mostly it’s all about tools I can use immediately. I learned how to communicate with my kids more calmly, with a lot less reminding and nagging. And I learned how to set boundaries that actually work. Our family is so much more peaceful now – because now I know how to motivate them to cooperate. Highly recommended!”
-
“I’m a single parent of a quite stubborn daughter. I’ve taken parenting classes before, but this one gave me the most bang for my buck. It kept me interested, and Noel made me feel understood and supported. The techniques have transformed our daily routines—everything feels less chaotic. And I feel more connected to my child. This mini-course has been a game-changer.”
